Instructions: Chestnut Stuffing

Start 1 hour and 15 minutes before mealtime.


diced onion
diced celery
unsalted butter
local bread (Farm to Market)
organic chicken broth (Clearly Organic)
local egg (Stanberry Community Farms)
chopped parsley
chopped sage
garlic salt
local organic chestnuts (Chestnut Charlie's)


Cookware & Staples:

large skillet
large bowl
square baking dish
lid or foil for baking dish

Step 1: Cook the Veggies

MELT 2 tablespoons butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

ADD the onion and celery and sauté until tender, about 5 minutes.

Step 2: Mix the Stuffing

COMBINE the bread crumbs, chicken broth, egg and the onion/celery mixture in a large bowl.

STIR in the parsley, sage, garlic salt and chestnuts.

MELT 3 tablespoons butter in the microwave and stir it into the bread crumb mixture.

Step 3: Bake the Stuffing

RUB the inside of a square baking dish with 1 tablespoon butter.

SPOON in the stuffing mixture.

COVER with a lid or foil.

BAKE at 375 degrees for 45 minutes (in the same oven with the turkey).

TIP: The stuffing will finish baking before the turkey. When the stuffing is finished, remove it from the oven and leave it covered until you're ready to serve.
